Some early thoughts on microblog

I like the idea of owning your content and the open web. This idea of building a social network on top of/in conjunction with it is a smart one

I think the biggest obstacle will be friction. I’m reasonably technical and I’m finding it all a bit complex

This complexity may be a feature or a bug. On the one hand, it prevents the service from turning into Facebook or Twitter, where basically anyone can join. On the other hand, it prevents the service from turning into Facebook or Twitter, where basically anyone can join

I imagine at some point people will set up WordPress templates specifcally for use with Microblog. Maybe even WordPress.org ones. That will likely reduce the friction

I do think it will encourage me to write more stream-of-conscious style posts, like this one. Whether that is good or bad depends on the feelings of the reader

I hope it succeeds. There seems to be a clear vision here, which is always a good sign!
